The Las Cruces Air and Space Expo Flies High

Are you a fan of those magnificent men in their flying machines? Is adrenaline your endorphin trigger of choice? Does the thrill of aerial aerobatics and high speed racing make your blood sing? Then you’ll want to head out to the Las Cruces International Airport, Saturday and Sunday, October 19 & 20, for the second annual Las Cruces Air and Space Expo.

An exciting blend of airshow and air racing, this family-friendly, two-day event will feature aerobatic performances, Sport Class Air Racing, airplane and helicopter displays, spacecraft and aerospace exhibits, muscle cars, antique cars, and STEM activities for the youth. Bring the whole family and let the kids have a blast in the dedicated Kid Zone, filled with games and activities to keep them entertained.

You can also indulge your taste buds at a wide array of delicious food trucks offering a variety of local culinary delights to satisfy your cravings. Groove to the rhythm of live music performances that will keep the energy high throughout the weekend.

Kirby Chambliss, the Red Bull Air Race World Champion, will be in attendance along with other talented and entertaining aviators, including the veteran owned parachute team, The Chuters. Hollywood flight instructor Chuck Coleman will also be back with his Extra Flugzeugbau 300L aircraft, thrilling audiences with his audacious, death-defying aerobatics.

The Las Cruces Air and Space Expo will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Las Cruces International Airport, 8990 Zia Blvd., off Interstate 10 on Las Cruces’ West Mesa. General admission tickets are free for adults and children if ordered in advance. General admission tickets will be $5 at the gate.
