Some two dozen firefighters were needed to extinguish a blaze at a Las Cruces warehouse last weekend, according to a news release from the Las Cruces Fire Department.

The release said that LCFD was called out on Sept. 28 to battle a fire at the L & P Building Supply at 101 N. Archuleta Road, where several stacks of lumber were found burning.

The fire was put down after about 20 minutes and required the crew to forklift stacks of lumber away from the flames.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported, and damage estimates have yet to be determined,” the news release said.

In an unrelated incident, firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged a two-story home on the 6200 block of Cloud Dance Drive.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 9:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, to find smoke rising from the home. Within 30 minutes, the fire was brought under control, the LCFD said, with no injuries reported. The cause of this fire and an estimate of its damage had not been determined at press time.
