Halloween on Granado Street

Spooky Tularosa tradition has taken hold

On Saturday, Oct. 28, the village of Tularosa will once again be entertained by some Halloween fun.  From 5-9 p.m. the Tularosa Arts and History Council (TAHC) is hosting the “Halloween on Granado Street 2023”.

In addition to the infamous Haunted House (which does have a small fee), there will be a variety of activities for kids, a Trunk-or-Treat Alley, a pet parade sponsored by Paw in Hand Veterinary Care, and costume contests for all ages. The Trunk-or-Treat entries, as well as the pet and people costume contests all have cash prizes. There will also be arts and craft vendors as well as food vendors. Raffle prizes include two children’s bikes donated by NSC Bookkeeping. Previous year’s attendees were pleasantly surprised by a ‘flash mob’ and there are sure to be new surprises this year. Live music will be provided by Sancho and the Sidepiece, a favorite local band from Tularosa.

TAHC works to increase awareness about the rich history and talented artists in and around the Village of Tularosa through events that support art, history and culture, thereby drawing businesses and visitors to Granado Street and surrounding areas. They have a specific focus to include youthful artists interested in developing art and finding ways to encourage the passage of history and the culture of Tularosa from one generation to the next through the telling of life stories.

The event is supported by numerous volunteers and sponsors without whom the event would not be possible. Proceeds go to hosting future events on Granado Street, a Student Scholarship Fund, supporting community-based projects including youthful artist projects and marketing efforts to draw businesses to the Village of Tularosa.
