The four people vying to be Doña Ana County’s next top executive are scheduled for public appearances Friday and Saturday.

The four candidates will make presentations about their experience and pitch themselves during an open session of the Board of County Commissioners on Friday, Aug. 9 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

On Aug. 10, the candidates will be available for meet and greets in Las Cruces and Anthony at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

The meeting will take place as the board looks to pick four candidates to replace Fernando Macias.

The candidates are Scott Andrews, a former assistant city manager in Bakersfield, Calif.; Barbara Bencomo, chief administrative officer for the city of Las Cruces; Stephen Lopez, the current Interim county manager; and Mark Tyner, a recently retired county administrator in Calhoun County, Ala.

The first meeting will occur at the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 Motel Boulevard. Each candidate was given 15 minutes to prepare a presentation to the board and the public.

Residents can submit questions to the Board of County Commissioners for the second meeting, which will take place at the Dona Ana County Fire Station 2 at 3230 Anthony Drive, via the county website. Click here to go directly to the submission page.
