After giving Louisville a scare on their home court Sunday, New Mexico State University hosts University of the Southwest at 7 p.m. tonight at the Pan American Center.
The Aggies enter the game with a 3-5 record. The 3-2 Mustangs hail from Hobbs, New Mexico.
Against Louisville Nov. 26, the Aggies led at halftime 30-28. Louisville tied it in regulation, and took control in overtime to earn the victory 90-84.
After the University of the Southwest game, NMSU next hits the road to Albuquerque to face the University of New Mexico at 7 p.m. in the Pit.
It will be Jason Hooten’s first traditional rivalry game as NMSU’s head coach. The Lobos return to Las Cruces Friday, Dec. 15, in a 7 p.m. game at the Pan Am.
Their next home game will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, against Northern New Mexico.
The Aggies have benefited so far this season from a balanced attack, as seven players are averaging 8.0 points per game. Since receiving his expected eligibility waiver to play from the NCAA, Femi Odukale, a 6-6 senior guard from Brooklyn, has given the Aggies a spark on both ends of the floor. In the two games he’s played, he’s averaged 15 points and 7.5 rebounds
