The “Visit Las Cruces stories” video contest is back, and the call for entries is open until Feb. 28.

The second annual contest invites entrants to draw from the “rich folklore of Las Cruces through compelling 3-5 minute video submissions.” It is jointly sponsored by the Las Cruces International Film Festival and Visit Las Cruces, the city’s tourism bureau.

Per a news release, detailed guidelines and the submission portal are available online at FilmFreeway.com/VisitLasCrucesStoriesContest.

The top three entries will win cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250 apiece along with VIP tickets to this year’s LCIFF, where the winning submissions will be showcased before each screening.

“At the heart of every community are the storytellers,” festival director Ross Marks stated in the news release. “Those that share the human experience and what their community represents. Las Cruces has many great storytellers. We are excited to give them this platform to tell their Las Cruces story using the world’s most powerful and effective medium — film!”

Visit Las Cruces Executive Director Rochelle Miller-Hernandez added that the competition aimed to challenge filmmakers, through their stories, to “entice visitors to include Las Cruces on their must-see bucket list.”

The Las Cruces International Film Festival is scheduled for April 3-7 at the Allen Theatres Cineport 10.
