Submission Deadline Approaching for Silver City Community Festival

Posted

The submission deadline is quickly approaching for the Silver City MainStreet Project and Silco Theater's inaugural Silver City Community Film Festival. The deadline for submitting entries to the festival is Sunday, September 1. The festival will take place October 18 - 20 at the historic Silco Theater, in downtown Silver City.

Community members of all ages and from all walks of life are encouraged to submit films to the festival. The film submission process is free. Films may be individual projects or group collaborations, and multiple entries may be submitted by one person.

“We are excited for the opportunity to showcase the stories our community has to tell via the medium of film,” said Kim Ryan, Cultural Coordinator of the Silco Theater, “and we’re hoping this event will inspire some new creative sparks!”

Film entries are grouped by length: Micro Short, 45 seconds to 3 minutes; Short, 3 minutes to 45 minutes; and Feature Length, over 45 minutes. The festival recognizes filmmaking as a very powerful storytelling medium for both fiction and non-fiction. The festival is open to any genre.

Entries may be submitted through FilmFreeway, a film festival submission platform, at filmfreeway.com/SilverCityFilmFestival. The submission link is also available on the Silver City Community Film Festival website, SilverCityFilmFest.org

The festival will showcase the diverse artistic talent of Grant County and the surrounding areas and provides a focal point for those who might be inspired to create something new.

"One of the great attributes of our community is our strong and vibrant art scene," said Silver City MainStreet Project Executive Director, Sharla Lefkowitz-Oberg. "We are lucky to have numerous art galleries and multiple community theater groups. This film festival provides an outlet for sharing the art of film making, an artistic medium that doesn't usually have a platform in our community. We are very excited to celebrate the stories of our community members on the big screen in October!"
