Nancy Spencer and Eric Renner

The art of Nancy Spencer and Eric Renner is unique in every way. For more than 30 years, they have worked as individual artists and collaborated in life and image making. Eric died recently in Las Cruces after a brief illness. They were co-directors of Pinhole Resource Inc., a nonprofit archive and educational organization dedicated to sharing information about pinhole photography. They also co-edited Pinhole Journal, published three times a year, 1985-2006. They gave lectures and workshops internationally and their photographs and assemblages are exhibited in major collections throughout the world, including the Museum of Modern Art, California Museum of Photography, National Gallery of Canada, George Eastman House and Bibliothéque Nationale in Paris. They are the recipients of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, American Scandinavian Foundation and the Aaron Siskind Foundation. Their work is represented by Light Art Space in Silver City.
