Happy New Year, baby

Memorial Medical Center and MountainView Regional Medical Center shared, with parental permission, images of the first babies born at their facilities on New Year’s Day.

MountainView Regional Medical Center on Jan. 1 welcomed Baby Graciela, aka Gracie, who was born at 10:20 a.m. on the first day of the year, the hospital said, weighing 7 pounds, 4 ounces. The baby and her parents, identified as Leilani and Jason and who consented to the the photograph, were all reported to be doing well. The Bulletin has asked Memorial Medical Center if it welcomed any babies earlier than that; however, such disclosures are strictly at parents’ discretion.

MountainView is a designated “baby-friendly hospital” by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, based on its maternal care facilities and technology, including state-of-the-art maternal-fetal early warning systems that autonomously monitor vital data through labor and delivery, the hospital said.

Memorial Medical Center followed with the announcement of their first childbirth: Baby Josiah made his way into the world at 2:58 p.m., weighing 5 pounds, 10 ounces, congratulating him and parents Alexis and Chris.
