Mesilla Valley Balloon Rally 2026! Kick Off Glow- 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Downtown Plaza (100 N Main St, Las Cruces, NM 88001).  The RC (radio controlled) balloons gather and glow in the Downtown plaza to give spectators a taste of the sights and sounds of the upcoming weekend.

Mesilla Valley Balloon Rally 2026! Morning Ascension - Sunrise (around 7 am) at the Field of Dreams (2300 Tashiro Dr, Las Cruces, NM 88007). The Full-Size Balloons inflate, launch and fly in the morning from the southwest lot (the dirt lot) of the Field of Dreams.   The RC balloons put on their show in the west parking lot of Field of Dreams.

Guided Hikes and Programs: Dona Ana Trailhead. Join Don for a guided mountain bike ride and learn about your monument lands along the way! Start time 9 a.m. Join BLM Paleontologist Colin Dunn on a moderate hike to the Discovery Site, where the first excavation of the Permian-age mega trackways occurred.  Along the way, learn about the geology and paleontology of the Monument. 3 miles round trip. Taylor Talks: An Archaeological Perspective on Hunting in New Mexico. At 2251 Calle De Santiago, Mesilla. FREE! From 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Hunting has always played a pivotal role in Native American subsistence and culture. This presentation explores the archaeology and history of hunting in New Mexico from the arrival of hunters and gatherers to the twenty-first century. This Taylor talk will be presented by Matthew J. Barbour.

The Mesilla Valley Chorale will begin rehearsals on Monday, January 19th for its Spring concert, “I Hear America Singing,” scheduled for Sunday, May 3rd 2026 at the Rio Grande Theatre. The first rehearsal will begin in the choir room of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 6:30 PM, for registration and music distribution. All following rehearsals will be on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00. The Chorale is under the direction of Judy Bethmann. Mondays Connect Playgroup at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 2540 El Paseo Rd Ste A, Las Cruces. From 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Our Connect Playgroup meets every Monday at 10:00 am and is open to parents and caregivers of children aged 0-5! Each week we’ll have stations set up for free play, including toys, art supplies, Play-Doh, books, sensory bins, and more! At the end of our session, our Pastor will join us for story time and a song. With fun free play for kids and FREE coffee for caregivers, Connect Playgroup is a great way to start your week!

National Day of Racial Healing. This year’s event will take place across two locations and is being co-hosted by additional community partners, allowing us to better serve students, families, and community members. Session One will be held at New America High School Gym, 207 S. Main, from 2-4:15 p.m. Session Two will be held at the Electric Caregivers Building ( Old Wells Fargo Building, Downtown) 506 S. Main Street, 7th Floor room 710 from 5-8 p.m. The day will feature youth-centered activities, panels, community vendors, free food, and live music — including  performances by DJ Rodriga Rockmore, New World Drummers, students from Raices del Saber Elementary, Sunihateyou, plus youth DJ sets and open mic.
