The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department’s 2023 Music in the Park Series begins with the Mayor’s Jazz Fest at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at Plaza de Las Cruces, 100 N. Main St. downtown. The show will feature performances by El Paso saxophonist Frank Zona and Albuquerque’s Son Como Son.

Music in the Park performances will begin at 7 p.m. each Sunday, June 4-Aug. 27, at Young Park, 1905 E. Nevada Ave. Thursday Night Music on the Plaza begins at 7 p.m. July 13, 20 and 27 on the plaza.

The Music in the Park Series is “an eclectic mix of performances from local, regional and nationally recognized artists,” the city said in a news release. Each year more than 70 percent of the scheduled musicians are from the Las Cruces area, the city said.

Featured performers in 2023 include El Paso’s Mariachi Los Arrieros, TNT Houston AC/DC Tribute Show Band, country music from Las Cruces’ Yarbrough Band and El Paso’s party band Fungi Mungle.
