In late March, the Doña Ana Arts Council (DAAC) will host one event that is new to Las Cruces and one that is a community favorite.

Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Rio Grande Theatre, 212 N. Main St. downtown. Tickets are $35 and are available at www.riograndetheatre.org/events/orchestrotica.

Tickets are $10, which includes attendance at both days. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available at https://meetinlascruces.com/event/las-cruces-arts-fair/ and will also be available at the door.

Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica

Percussionist and Artistic Director Brian “Mr. Ho” O’Neill leads Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica quintet. Their performance will include O’Neill’s original compositions, unique arrangements of Bach, Gershwin, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky and Gregorian chants, according to http://orchestrotica.com/.

The Las Cruces performance is the group’s first and only stop in New Mexico as it performs seven shows in five states in March and April. The group formed in 2007 and is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Arts Fair

With more than 75 artists offering jewelry, mixed media, fabric, paintings and drawings, printmaking and photography, porcelain-pottery-glass, recycled materials and woodwork-metalwork-sculptures, the Las Cruces Arts Fair will offer “something for serious art collectors and those just looking for a unique gift or artwork,” said DAAC Executive Director Araceli Solis.

“As in past years, some (Arts Fair) artists are local, while others come from out of state,” Solis said. Southwest painters James Amado Peña Jr. and James Tsoodle will be returning, as well as local artists Nancy Begin, Sally Quillin and Brent Bauer. Colorado artist Nicole Brin will exhibit her unique tile and steel art sculptures.”

The Arts Fair also includes a silent auction, live entertainment and food and beverages for sale.
