The New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum is gearing up to welcome the public to the 24th annual Cowboy Days event.

The event celebrates and showcases New Mexico ranching traditions with activities including a working dogs demonstration, sheep shearing and a fully functional chuck wagon — the original food truck.

Vendors will be on site and live music will be heard throughout the festival. Cowboys will showcase many breeds of cattle in a returning favorite, the “Parade of Breeds.” The museum’s regular attractions and exhibits will also be open.

The cowboy days open Friday with schools planning to attend educational programming which is also open to the public at regular museum admission prices. The special event continues from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission will be $20 per vehicle. No pets will be permitted.

The museum’s exhibit, “Home on the Range: From Ranches to Rockets,” will close on Sunday.
