Secret Service failed Trump

Posted

Dear editor,

As a result of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pa. on July 13th, several thoughts have come to mind. In April, Mississippi congressman Bennie Thompson introduced legislation designed to strip convicted felons sentenced to prison of Secret Service protection. This was just a blatant attempt to take away Donald Trump’s Secret Service protection. The hate and cries by Democrats and their supporters in the media to defeat Donald Trump at all costs abound. Repeated requests from the Trump campaign for additional Secret Service protection have been denied. Why the denial? Who made the decision? In today’s environment, drones are often routinely used for surveillance by law enforcement. Why wasn’t a drone used for surveillance over the Trump rally? Also, why wasn’t the rooftop 130 yards from where Donald Trump was speaking not manned by the Secret Service?

In my opinion, the Secret Service plan for protecting Donald Trump at the rally in Pennsylvania needs to be evaluated to correct the flaws for future events.
