The second annual Fallen Officer Memorial Run in Las Cruces is set for Feb. 16 around City Hall.

The event was inaugurated last year to remember Darian Jarrott, a New Mexico State Police officer killed on Feb. 4, 2021.

This year, it will include remembrances for Anthony Ferguson, an Alamogordo police officer killed on Jul. 16, 2023; Jonah Hernandez, a Las Cruces police officer killed on Feb. 11, 2024; Justin Hare, a New Mexico State police officer killed on Mar. 15, 2024; and Hatch police officer Jose Ismael Chavez, killed on Aug. 12, 2016.

The route begins at city hall, loops around downtown and ends in the plaza. The total distance of the course is 3.30 miles, in honor of Jarrott’s badge number, 330.

“This run is more than just an event—it is a symbol of unity, remembrance, and respect for the brave men and women who risk their lives every day to uphold the law. By participating, we ensure that Officers Jarrott and Hernandez’s legacies live on, and we show unwavering support to their families, fellow officers, and the communities they served,” per NMFallenOfficer.com, a website detailing the event.
