An expansion of Las Cruces’ Sage Café community center, 6121 Reynolds Drive on the city’s east mesa, begins before sunrise Friday as workers will seek to pour a foundation and beat the heat.
According to a news release, concrete trucks will take their positions at about 3 a.m. on June 28 in order to place the concrete during early-morning temperatures. The project is anticipated to finish by 9 a.m.
The Sage Café is a venue for senior and community services including meals, a computer lab, fitness classes, games and other activities as well as a public library branch that hosts events and a weekly book club. It sits next to a community garden that will be relocated to a site close by.
