Las Cruces police are searching for an African-American male with a dark complexion, who is about 5-feet-11-inches tall with short hair and a goatee.
When last seen, he was wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.
The suspect was involved in an alleged stabbing that occurred shortly after midnight on June 14 in the 200 block of east Idaho Avenue.
The victim, a 39-year-old man, told police he was sitting in his car when the alleged suspect approached and demanded the car keys. The suspect began stabbing the victim after his request was denied, according to a news release.
The victim escaped and ran to the nearby Walgreens store on El Paseo Road. The victim was airlifted to an El Paso hospital with serious injuries.
The victim said the suspect spoke with a mid-west or east coast accent.
