The AmadorLive Eatery and Entertainment District in downtown Las Cruces, a collection of restaurants and event spaces, announced on Jan. 6 that it would close in the near future.
In a video released on the venue’s Facebook page, owner Max Bower announced the closure but did not say when the final day would be. He blamed market conditions for the closure. The Bulletin reached out to Bower for comment and is awaiting a response.
“2024 was a tough year for a lot of people in town, a tough year for a lot of businesses. Amador was no exception,” Bower said in the video.
Bower opened the space in March 2019. The complex contained four brands: Amador Patio Bar Grill, Broken Spoke Taphouse, JAX and 575.
The venue was part of a $6.5 million public-private partnership with the city of Las Cruces, which invested the money in redeveloping the area.
“It’s one of those things that, if there was a light at the end of the tunnel, we could probably find a way to keep it going,” Bower said. “But at this time, the way things are, it’s just something that we are not prepared to do.”
Bower thanked customers of the last six years and left open the possibility of reopening in the future.
