The Sophia, Inc. – a Las Cruces nonprofit incorporated in 2022 – announced its third annual “One Huge Fiesta,” a free-of-charge community event, will take place Saturday in Young Park.
On the organization’s website, TheSophia.org, the event promises activities and attractions including inflatable bouncy houses, miniature golf, a sensory station, a vendor marketplace and outdoor games.
In addition, the website says there will a 2 p.m. popsicle-stick bridge-building competition with cash prizes, organized in partnership with New Mexico State University’s engineering outreach program.
A news release stated, “While the (One Huge Fiesta) is completely free, proceeds from food sales will go towards the cost of the event and also to purchase items for The Sophia’s annual blanket, heater and toy drive,” which serves children in Las Cruces and communities in southern Doña Ana County.
The event will run from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Young Park, 850 S. Walnut Street.
During the event, per the website, the organization will accept voluntary donations for its 2024 blanket, heater and toy drive, with six other collection locations listed as well.
