Kris Neri will present the next workshop in The Write Stuff writing series, a 2-hour talk titled “Moving from Premise to Plot: Novel Structure,” Saturday, January 11.
Nationally-published, award-winning author and writing instructor, Kris Neri, will share the basic principles of story, taking it step-by-step through the concept of the central problem, through novel structure, addressing the elusive hidden story principle — and generally showing writers how to move from premise to a plot that’s ready to write. Memoir writers should find the workshop equally useful.
The Write Stuff, a program presented by Southwest Word Fiesta and hosted by Neri, shares the techniques required for writers to elevate the professionalism of their works. This program presents a series of in-depth writing workshops throughout the year, offered by some of the most accomplished local authors and instructors on a variety of writing challenges. Past presenters have included Elise Stuart, Catalina Claussen, Julia Fricke Robinson, and Heather D. Frankland.
A five-time New Mexico-Arizona Book Award winner and Silver City resident, Neri writes the humorous Tracy Eaton mysteries, featuring the daughter of eccentric Hollywood stars, and the Samantha Brennan & Annabelle Haggerty magical series, which features a questionable psychic who teams up with a modern goddess-FBI agent, as well as thrillers, and general fiction. Neri also teaches writing online for the prestigious Writers’ Program of the UCLA Extension School and other organizations.
The Write Stuff lecture by Kris Neri will be offered 10 am - noon, Saturday, January 11, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N Swan St, Silver City. All workshops are free and open to the public. No reservations. Seating and parking is plentiful. Small donations are solicited to pay for the space, but no donations are required.
