Monk has Dec. 4 ‘satsang’ at Wellspring Church

Posted

Brian Lottman, a traveling monk, will host a “satsang” 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Wellspring Church, 140 W. Taylor Road in Las Cruces.

Satsang is a Sanskrit word that essentially means a group gathering to seek truth.

Wellspring described Lottman’s program as a way to “strengthen your direct experience of presence (and) clear away the blocks to a deeper connection.”

Lottman has held hundreds of satsangs across the United States and Canada, Wellspring said, where participants experienced “immersion into higher states of consciousness through energy healing, mystical mantra, sweet harmonium music and guided meditation.

The event is open to everyone.

The requested donation is $20.

Wellspring Church celebrated its 20th anniversary in October. It was founded by Rev. Sam Ritchey and “45 excited people from the Las Cruces New Thought/Science of Mind community,” the church said. It began holding Sunday service in The Arc of Life Center on Griggs Avenue, then bought property and moved to its permanent home on Taylor Road, which is also known as County Road 243. Ritchey retired in 2015.
