The Las Cruces Fire Department is investigating after a brush fire torched a shed and backyard on Jan. 23.
A news release reported no injuries after firefighters responded to the 400 block of N. Melendres Street around 3:30 p.m. They discovered “heavy fire coming from a shed in the backyard and another building.”
The fire was put out in about 15 minutes, the department reported. The cause of the fire and estimated loss are currently undetermined.
