The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has increased the reward available for information leading to the arrest of the alleged shooter of a 14-year-old boy in early June.
Alejandro Roman was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle when he was shot and killed during an alleged road rage incident at the intersection of Solano Drive and Spruce Avenue at about 9 p.m. on June 2. Crime Stoppers of Las Cruces-Doña Ana County has offered a reward of $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the individual who shot Roman. AFT is now offering an additional reward of $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual.
ATF has also released new information about the alleged shooter. The suspect is described as a male who was driving a white, mid-size sport utility vehicle. The suspect is believed to have been the lone occupant of the SUV at the time of the shooting.
Police said through a news release that it’s possible the suspect hid the SUV in a garage or backyard or under a tarp, changed his routine after the shooting, skipped work, left town or canceled plans with friends or relatives to avoid being in the public. The suspect might also be asking questions uncharacteristically about the shooting or frequenting social media for updates.
Anyone who recognizes these behaviors in an individual known to drive a white SUV similar to the one shown in photos or video provided by police, is asked to share information with investigators to help solve the crime.
