The annual Artists of Picacho Hills Holly Day House Art Show returns to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church downtown this weekend.
"Holly Day House is a great way to start the holiday season,” artist Sally Kohl stated in a news release from the group. "It's fun to spend time with the other artists and to provide unique gifts for shoppers to choose from."
Fifteen artists will display work including ceramics, folk art, decorative gourds, jewelry, paintings, textiles and glass works. Kohl’s folk art pieces will be on hand along with paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor by seven painters. Rosemary McKeown’s jewelry will also be on exhibit.
This year's event is hosted by Larry Felhauer and Linda Lee. Felhauer is a past president of the Artists of Picacho Hills who recently returned to Las Cruces, according to the release. Highlighting the value of unique art gifts, he recommended patrons “beat the guy in the red suit to the punch.”
The free event is located in the church’s fellowship hall at 225 W. Griggs Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. Parking is available south of the church, accessible from Alameda Boulevard via May Avenue, a one-way street.
The AoPH was founded in 2008 by artists living in the Picacho Hills Community to promote the arts. They founded two annual events, Holly Day House as well as a May “Art in the Garden” event.
