Frame and Art Center's featured artist for March is Renee Short.

Short, originally from Brooklyn, New York, now lives in Las Cruces. She uses color, texture, lines, space, form and found objects to create contemporary mixed media abstraction, Short said.

Viewing her artwork provides “a visual experience free from concrete encumbrances and reinterpretation – non-objective art,” Short said, adding that her “unique compositions convey various thought-provoking graphical images, ideas and emotions. Viewers will have plenty to enjoy, discuss, disagree with or contemplate,” she said.

Short said her artwork “goes beyond verbal communication, but, since we are all multidimensional beings, viewers will still want to know what it is, what it means or what it represents.

"No one ever truly knows everything because the imagination isn't fixed,” Short said. It's ongoing."

“Anything that pops up I will include in my artwork,” Short told the Bulletin 2021. “I can take anything and make it into my art. I’m creating probably every second of the day.”

Frame and Art Center, 1100 S. Main St., is open 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
