Blank Conversations Theatre Company (BCTC) of Las Cruces will host a fundraiser beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at Rio Grande Theatre (RGT), 211 N. Main St. downtown.

In partnership with the theatre, BCTC will host a special screening of “Purple Rain,” the 1984 rock musical drama starring Prince, who also wrote the film’s score. The movie won an Oscar for best original song and a Tony for best album of original score written for a motion picture. The film’s soundtrack sold more than 15 million copies in the United States and 25 million worldwide. The album with the same name as the film had two number one singles: “When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go Crazy.” Its title single, “Purple Rain,” reached number two.

“This interactive movie experience features a live preshow, featuring games and prizes,” BCTC said on Facebook.

During the evening, BCTC will raffle off a one-of-a-kind beer pitcher and pint-glass combo, Sanchez said. Raffle tickets are $5 each.

Tickets are $10 and are available online at www.riograndetheatre.org.

BCTC was founded in 2019 by Gus David Sanchez, Eva Cullen, Bryan Berard and Peyton Womble and has produced plays and musicals at RGT, New Mexico State University and elsewhere in Las Cruces.
