A course devoted to the work of Georgia O’Keefe and other women artists of New Mexico will begin in January through a partnership between ARTE Lifelong Learning and the Doña Ana Arts Council.
“The life and work of Georgia O’Keefe and other exceptional women artists of New Mexico – Indigenous, Spanish Colonial and Angelo – past and present,” is the full name of the course, consisting of 10 lectures with discussions led by art historian Kathleen Keys. Keys is an ARTE cofounder.
In addition to O’Keefe, the sessions will address women artists in architecture, ceramics, photography, sculpture, fiber and textile arts, fashion design, jewelry design, installation, video and performance art and painting, per the arts council’s newsletter. The class will meet at the arts council, 230 S. Water Street in downtown Las Cruces, 1-2:30 p.m. on Mondays from Jan. 13 to March 17.
Information about course fees and registration are available via ARTE cofounder Kathleen Albers, 575-635-1973 and kathleenalbers@arteadventures.com.
